Fine and Rare Books
NOTES
AND CONDITIONS OF SALE.
We want you
to order books from our on-line listings and to be completely satisfied
with your purchase so that you will order again in future. Please take
a moment to read these notes explaining our service and our Conditions
of Sale.
GUARANTEE.
All books offered by us on-line or in printed catalogues have
been examined in detail and are guaranteed to be complete and in good
condition unless otherwise stated; all defects are fully and fairly described.
All secondhand books we offer for sale have been collated page by page
in order to find such defects or verify that there are none. We suggest
however, that as a matter of course, you should carry out your own checks
of all purchases from whatever source.
RETURNS.
You may return books for any reason, however such returns
must be made within 3 days of receipt and postage paid in both directions
unless we are at fault in which case we will pay all postage charges.
You should notify us immediately of your intention to return and we would
appreciate you informing us of the reason. Books returned should also
be properly packed. It is a condition of return that you accept liability
for any damage occurring during transit.
TERMS
OF PAYMENT:
Our terms of payment are strictly CASH ON RECEIPT of
books or Pro-Forma invoice. We rely on your courtesy in observing this.
All goods remain our property until paid for in full including all charges
for delivery, etc.
If you are a NEW CUSTOMER we will ask you to pay on receipt of a Pro-Forma
invoice and will then despatch the books on receipt of your payment. If we
have sent you a Pro-Forma invoice and you do not pay within 14 days then
we will sell the books to others. Alternatively, to eliminate all uncertainty,
you can send us payment or an authority to debit Mastercard, Visacard
or American Express with your order .
We do not accept
credit cards in payment of outstanding accounts. If you wish to use
a credit card please send an authority for us to charge it WITH YOUR
ORDER.
HOW
TO CONTACT US:
You may order books from our listings by Email to: books@GastonRenard.com.au, by Telephone: +61 3 9459 5040, or by Regular Mail
to P.O. Box 1030, Ivanhoe, Victoria, 3079, Australia. We suggest that
you include your full name, postal address, and telephone number in any Email communications and we will
be pleased to send you quotations or lists in your fields of interest
on request.
RESERVING
ITEMS
Our catalogues and on-line listings generate a great many
requests for the same books. We try to describe the books as fully as
possible but if you wish to examine them or check other references etc.
prior to purchase we are happy to hold them for you for 48 hours, however
in fairness to ourselves and to other customers we cannot hold them for
longer unless you wish definitely to purchase them.
UPDATES
It is our policy to regularly update our on-line listings
of books for sale and we aim to do this at least every week. It is most
likely therefore that any book listed as available from us WILL be
available at that time. However, in most cases we have only a single
copy of the book listed and from time to time items may be temporarily
reserved pending another customer's decision. We ask for your patience
should you order such an item and will advise you of the situation. We
will record your interest in any item sold prior to receipt of your order
and will offer you the next available copy at no obligation.
PRICING
All prices are strictly Nett in Australian Dollars. POSTAGE,
PACKING, INSURANCE AND BANK CHARGES ETC. ARE EXTRA IN ALL CASES and will
be charged at cost. We are happy to quote these costs for specific orders.
IMPORTANT -
ALL PRICES ARE EXPRESSED IN AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS. By setting the currency
field to your home or preferred currency, you will see an approximate
translation of the price at current exchange rates, BUT it is the Australian
Dollar amount which will be shown in our invoices, and it is the Australian
Dollar amount which is due, free of bank charges, and irrespective
of fluctuations in the rate of exchange. Payments from foreign countries
should preferably be made by check in U.S. Dollars or by Bank Draft
in Australian Dollars drawn on an Australian Bank. Your local bank
should be able to arrange this. Payments made by other means should
include sufficient additional funds to cover all bank charges. Cheques
drawn on European Banks, regardless of currency, cost us between A$50.00 & A$100.00
to negotiate (and are therefore not really economic); and direct transfers
to our account, cost A$15.00 which amount should be added to our invoiced
total if this method of payment is used. In this modern world, the
credit card (see above) is probably the simplest and for you, the purchaser,
the cheapest method of payment and incurs no additional charges.
We will bill your card in Australian Dollars and the credit card company
will perform the currency conversion.
We are always
keen to BUY good books in the fields of Antarctica, William Bligh,
and early Voyages to maintain the quality and quantity of our stock
- We buy both collections and good single items and we pay well for
items in top condition.
